what is it?

inspired partly by the work of anne brigman this is a photo series of naked people of all shapes, sizes, colors, ages (18+, obvi, but there’s no upper limit!), in landscapes. the focus is on our interaction with nature — particularly emphasizing how we’re a part of it, rather than masters over it.

this isn’t “oh look at the hot naked person — also mountains!” it’s “mountains! — and a person! — all bound up together because we’re part of the earth!”

(i use mountains as an example, but this can happen anywhere — mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, glaciers, seashores, crags, plains, bogs, fens, hills, fields, beneath the surface of a mere with grendel’s mother.)

who has control over the photos?

you do! i’ll never ever use anything we make without your permission.

after the shoot i’ll send you every photo we took, straight out of camera — those are yours, you’re welcome to do whatever you want with them. i’ll also send you a handful of edits of shots that jump out at me.

how much does it cost?

all shoots are priced on a sliding scale from $100 to $1000. this means you choose what you pay me based on what you can afford.  money should never be an impediment to art. if you’re short on cash pay me $100. if you’re a trust fund baby pay me $1000.  if you’re somewhere in between, pay me something in between.

don’t be a dick about this — if you take advantage of me you’ll go to art hell. BUT also don’t not shoot because you can only afford the low end.  i won’t treat you differently because you pay on the low end of the scale, and you never have to explain yourself to me or justify your payment decision in any way.  

a nonrefundable $50 deposit is due at time of booking.  pay the remaining balance when I send you the photos.

where would we do it?

location is totally up to you! anywhere you pick will be amazing — i can’t imagine a bad spot to shoot. much more important than the aesthetic of the spot is your relationship to it. find somewhere you love or have some sort of connection to. i’m happy to drive/fly/raft/hike to a cool location. if you really can’t think of anywhere, i can throw out some ideas — but i’d much prefer it comes from you.

i think i want to do it but i’m nervous about the nudity — can i change my mind if we start shooting and i hate it?

yes! of course! the most important thing, always, is that you’re completely comfortable at all times. if you think you want to do it but when we get to the location you’re like, “oh my god i’ve made a huge mistake,” that is TOTALLY FINE. just give me $20 for gas and we’ll still be friends.

can i be part of it?

yes yes yes yes yes! everyone is welcome. seriously, everyone. whoever you are, if you want to be involved please reach out. and spread the word! tell your friends, tell your parents, tell your grandparents!

is it ok i don’t have modeling experience?

yes, totally!! most of the people i work with have never done something like this before! there’s no right answer or “correct” way to do it. basically we’ll just go somewhere beautiful and you’ll frolic and i’ll take a million photos and magically some of them will be amazing. you cannot possibly fuck this up, i promise you. no experience necessary and don’t be nervous.

what if i hate the pictures or change my mind after the shoot?

i’ll never ever use anything we shoot without your permission. if you hate ’em all we can reshoot — and if you decide you don’t want the photos used for anything that’s ok, too. there’s never pressure or obligation.

will i get paid?

maybe. if (with your written permission) i end up using something we shoot in a book or to sell prints, any profits will be split 50/50 between me and everyone who was in the photos.
